From a crypto happy hour to a skill swap, here’s what Toronto Tech Week has in store – NOW

Toronto Tech Week (TTW) 2024 has kicked off, offering a diverse array of events celebrating the innovators, creators, and technologists in the city.

The five-day extravaganza commenced with the TTW Park Hang at Trinity Bellwoods Park on Monday, followed by the grand opening event, Rebirth, which honoured Toronto’s resurgence, potential, and its people.

The action-packed agenda includes Framer’s inaugural in-person meetup in Toronto, hosted by Worksimply at DMZ Sandbox starting at 6 p.m. This event is ideal for individuals keen on delving into the world of no-code tools.

In addition, attendees can glean insights from three esteemed founders of Toronto-based design studios: Taha Hossain of Daybreak Studio, Ronald Tau of Meat Studio, and Jared of Renga, as they share the triumphs and tribulations of launching an agency.

For the night owls and aficionados of Artificial Intelligence and Crypto, “Global Supercomputer: The Future of AI & Crypto” is a must-attend event, commencing at 8 p.m. and running until 2 a.m.

Between May 14 and 16, TTW is presenting a special screening of the documentary “Join or Die,” and offering viewers  $12 tickets for access to both in-person screenings and digital viewings.

On May 15, a total of seven events are scheduled, including “Off The Record 007” featuring Jean Amiouny, CEO of Shakepay, and bitcoin podcast host Kevin Rooke, with an entry fee of $5.35. Additionally, “Design Systems Unpacked: Exploring the DNA of Design” is already sold out, while “Designing for Safety: Turning Caution Into Creativity” brings together industry experts for a discussion on shaping safe experiences at scale.

TTW founders will also host a happy hour networking event from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on May 15.

On May 16, Walk n’ Talk invites participants to join a two-hour hike alongside founders and AI enthusiasts, starting at 4 p.m. ET. This is followed by three engaging events: “A Night of Sustainability, Fashion & Tech,” “Base Community Meetup,” and “Prototyping with AI (ft. Meta),” culminating in the “Don’t Die T.O. Fireside Chat & Social Mixer.”

To wrap up TTW, attendees can enhance their app design skills at Soto Skill Swap, and explore virtual environments in the session “Shaping Virtual Worlds and the Tools That Build Them (ft. Roblox).” The final networking event includes “Charmed: A Night for Women in Tech,” and “The ANTI-WORK Party.”
