Trump Hosts NFT Enthusiasts: Memorable Quotes and Insights from Florida Event

  • Donald Trump hosted NFT enthusiasts at his Florida home on May 8, and he promised to fight for crypto and NFTs if he beats Joe Biden in the November polls.
  • He took shots at the Biden administration’s hostile treatment of digital assets, including singling out Gary Gensler as anti-crypto as he claimed credit for “making NFTs hot again.”

Once a fierce Bitcoin critic, Donald Trump seems to have turned a corner and has now vowed to protect the industry if he takes power later this year. At a recent event he hosted in Florida, the Republican presidential aspirant criticised the Biden administration’s crypto crackdown and promised the attendees a friendlier regime under his government.

Trump hosted dozens of crypto enthusiasts at his Florida home for an NFT-themed evening. As expected, he didn’t mince his words in his criticism of the industry’s ongoing crackdown. As Crypto News Flash has reported for years, the SEC, CFTC and several other government agencies have flexed their muscles with crypto, shutting down businesses and imposing harsher sentences on some of the offenders.

When asked about the continued hostility and the relocation of American crypton businesses offshore, Trump pledged to protect the sector’s interest if he becomes president, stating:

We’ll stop it because I don’t want that, I don’t want that. If we’re going to embrace it, we have to let them be here.

Trump will bear the Republican party flag at this year’s elections in November. He’ll square off against incumbent Joe Biden, whom he lost the election to four years ago. While he has claimed to be pro-innovation, Biden has overseen harsh legislation that threatens to stifle the crypto sector in the world’s largest economy.

Trump called the entire government out, stating, “Gensler is very much against it. The Democrats are very much against it [but]I’m fine with it, I want to make sure it’s good and solid and everything else, but I’m good with it.”

Trump Changes Tune, Supports Crypto, NFTs

While he is on the crypto corner now, the former reality television star hasn’t always supported the industry. Three years ago, he claimed that Bitcoin “just seems like a scam. I don’t like it because it’s another currency competing against the dollar.”

The tune has changed. He now claims he’s the industry’s best bet for continued growth in America.

If you ask Biden if he’s for or against crypto, he’ll ask you, ‘What’s that?’ If you’re in favour of crypto, you better vote for Trump.

The real-estate mogul further endorsed NFTs, claiming credit for rejuvenating the industry after it seemed to ebb away recently. For starters, to be invited to the event, one had to part with over $4,600 to purchase one of Trump’s Mugshots NFTs.

There’s no shortage of crypto and NFT projects that bear Trump’s image, most of them unofficially. One of these, Doland Tremp (TREMP), doubled its price on the back of the event; it’s now worth $58.6 million.
